William Stepp, PhD
William Stepp, PhD
Chief Strategist Economic/Business Development ● Higher Ed. ● Healthcare ● Legislative Advocacy With twenty-three years of experience in programs and project leadership securing resources for organizations, businesses and institutions of higher education, Bill founded the Great Lakes Entrepreneurship Center to offer his expertise in organizational planning, philanthropy, finance, executive performance, and entrepreneurship. As an educator, he has led teams to create marketing strategies for enrollment management and institutional fund-raising initiatives. His additional background in corporate sales and marketing gives Bill a hands-on understanding of customer service, product development, markets, team development and green planning. Bill has a doctorate (Ph.D.) in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Finance and Strategic Planning from the University of Florida. His undergraduate and master’s degrees were awarded by Stetson University. He received a fellowship with The Council of State governments (CSG) in 1994 for Latin American Trade as part of Congressional work on NAFTA.
Kevin Hammer, MLIS
Senior Associate, Communications & Research Ag/Business Research ● Surveys ● Proposal Writing ● Competitive Intelligence Bringing 12 years of experience writing and editing in the market research industry, Kevin provides Great Lakes with depth in communications and research expertise through the Business Research and Information Group. Among his specialties are competitive intelligence, demographic research, online surveys, company/organization profiles, research of major donor prospects, and grant and proposal writing. Kevin earned a Masters degree in Library and Information Science from Kent State University, in addition to a Bachelors degree in Journalism from Bowling Green State University.

Senior Consultant Fund-raising ● Foundations ● Program Evaluation ● Succession Planning Dr. Carol B. Wittmeyer is a recognized leader and educator in the development profession. As president of the Raymond Family Business Institute, she was involved with awarding grants and soliciting gifts; at Alfred University she managed the New Millennium Campaign which raised $82 million. At Newman University she was VP for Advancement and managed a $14.25 million campaign for a new library. At Medaille College she served as Vice President, helping to increase Annual Giving, participation rates and trustee membership. She earned her doctorate from the University of Rochester, and her MBA and BBA from St. Bonaventure University. She is a graduate of the Harvard University Management Program and Wharton's Strategic Management Program. She is an assistant professor of management at St. Bonaventure where she teaches corporate and nonprofit strategy, organizational behavior and family enterprise.
Betty Scott
Senior Consultant Minority Ownership ● Transportation ● Quality Assurance ● Manufacturing Betty Scott is a leading advocate for minority-owned businesses and the principal of UTC/Rail and AirSources, Inc. of Morton, PA. As president and CEO, Betty leads a manufacturing company specializing in the rail and air transportation industry. Her company continues to be recognized for innovation and quality assurance programs in the workplace. Betty is known throughout the industry as both an owner and a mentor. As CEO, she has daily operating and executive responsibilities for a multi-million dollar operation with a special focus on marketing and proposal development on a spec. to manufacturing platform. Her experience includes extensive marketing and proposal development within public and private sectors, as well as certifications in Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Women's Business Enterprise. She has the eye of an artist and finds this talent helpful in leading her team of engineers, designers, craftsman and staff to new levels of achievement yearly. Betty has a marketing and fine arts degree from Kent State University. Betty will head the center's practice focusing on accelerating business ownership and contracts for Minority Business Enterprise, Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Women Business Enterprise.

Senior Consultant Business Planning ● Innovation ● Collaboration ● Social Entrepreneurship Peter, a successful entrepreneur in his own right, has traded the boardroom for the classroom. Peter is a recognized professor of entrepreneurship and friend to college students and businesses from coast to coast. He currently holds the William and Kay Moore Endowed Chair of Entrepreneurship and Management at Berea College. His career in the classroom spans two decades; his credentials include two endowed chairs in entrepreneurship, visiting scholar at the Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and counsel to numerous foundations and businesses supporting entrepreneurship in education, not for profits, community and other fields. From incubators to accelerators, from the business plan through VC presentations, and onto launching and growth, Peter has been a coach and steady hand for many business and organizations. He is considered an expert by his peers in setting forth best practices in organizational management. He has been recognized by Entrepreneur Magazine, US Association of Small Business, and World Business Congress, and an invited speaker at many award ceremonies. Peter received his undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati and his Ph.D. from the University of Oklahoma. Peter will head up the Center’s practice on Regional Capacity Building.

As a senior consultant, Lee Weber-Koch’s innovative solutions to message creation, management and media choice, insure that your voice is heard in the market and by decision makers. Lee has created award-winning branding, marketing, communication, public relations and advertising programs for public and private corporations through the United States and Latin America. She was awarded 'Marketer of the Year from the Nevada Chapter of the American Marketing Association and holds a 'Silver Dollar Award of Excellence' from the International Association of Business Communicators. Currently, Lee is the Founder/President of Weber & Associates which offers a wide range of integrated modern and traditional marketing, communications, public relations, advertising services and consultation to clients with a variety of needs and business objectives. In her free time, she thoroughly enjoys volunteering for a variety of non-profit organizations throughout the region. Lee’s credentials include a BA in Journalism/Public Relations from the University of Southern California. Throughout her career, formal education and community service, Lee has excelled at and pioneered the concept of connectivity between programs and the market.
